Customary duties of a Household Assistant include:
Assisting with the household schedule and keeping up with the daily "to do lists." Being aware of the needs of the family and proactively finding solutions, shifting schedules, and being available for a variety of household-related roles. Using one's intuition and knowledge of family preferences and habits to assist with typical household chores including:
- keeping the home tidy, organized
- light family meal preparation
- help with laundry
- administrative duties including errand running, researching consumer goods and making purchases.
- Tag teaming with the homeowners or Home Managers
- keeping information organized and ready to share/hand-off to homeowners.
Pay Range: 17-35/hr.
Candidate Availability: In a way, this position reflects the character of Alice from the TV show, The Brady Bunch. Unfortunately, true "home-ec" skills seem to be a thing of the past. In truth, it is a bit of a needle in a haystack search to find a candidate who knows how to juggle all the happenings of a busy household. However, these people do exist. In general, it takes us about 1-3 months to locate the right match for our client.
Experience and Qualifications: A Household Assistant candidate may be a college student who is very savvy and organized, yet their work experience may not be strong. Or a more seasoned candidate may have years of experience working in private households. The hourly wage will reflect the work history of the candidate and how much decision making responsibility the candidate has. A Household Assistant should have excellent communication and problem solving skills, they should be savvy about resource management and have the ability to [prioritize and multi-task like wiz. They will be able to work along side of the homeowner on projects and independently as well; keeping the larger picture in mind while attending to the details of every day life.
